Frost Workshops Arts & Crafts Hammered / Etched Brass Brooch c1910
This is such a great discovery!!
If you do a little research, you will find that George Frost founded the Frost Arts & Crafts Workshops in 1906. His work is what the arts and crafts movement in America is all about… often confused with that of Carence crafters, Marshall Field Crafters & Forest craft guild. Pieces often exhibit more pronounced hammering than those others, especially on edges. It’s craftsman made extensive use of green verdigris highlights. Their most common shop mark is a triangle around the word Frost. This piece includes that triangle. There is just the tiniest hint of a patina peeking thru the inner edge of the brooch.
This EXACT design can be found as an example shown on a popular website detailing Frost & his American metalwork legacy. Truly an amazing find!
C clasp on back in working condition. Pin is quite stiff with little movement. A little sticker residue on the back remains. Comes to you in exactly as found condition. Will leave it to the buyer to clean as desired.
