knovadust @benparker78 I never read the books so I dont have the authors intended context. when I read it it struck me as a trial by fire affirmation. That pain and turbulence pushes us towards growth as long as we embrace it. The result is reaching our full potential. Why care for the opinions of others once that result has been achieved? ... not to put a damper on what I am sure is a lovely children's story 😅

knovadust @benparker78 The short answer would be totems. Each animal is assigned (teaches lessons of) attitudes to be mindful of in order to balance one another. A good example would be the lynx and the copper head(snake). Lynx teaches patience in the form of silent careful observation where as the copperhead teaches patience with the knowing when to strike with precision.

knovadust @benparker78 Without out the copperhead the lynx only observe and misses opportunities to act and without the lynx the copperhead acts on impulse and strikes too often without enough data to be accurate.

knovadust @benparker78 historically I use graphite and charcoal with the occasional conté crayon. I came out of the womb with an affinity for natural science so that was what my work consist of. With painting I am trying to move away from realism and into emotional expressionism.
