majortom69 @bgfanspark I am so sorry about this glitch. I need to ask them how fix it because I offer a bundle discount but not on the pins because 3 pins are already discounted. Crazy!! bgfanspark @majortom69 yes I’m a huge Bowie fan!! Have been since I was 13 yrs old. I can see by your @ your a fan too! It’s a huge loss that’s he’s no longer with us. There will never be anyone like him again. Fortunately, he left us so much.

majortom69 @bgfanspark not many people know this but I was privileged to meet him and we became great friends. He was an absolute genius! He had an online platform called Bowie.net and I knew the names he used. I would often take the train to NY and go see him and the band work. In the 80s I was in London with my mom. He came to our hotel, met my mother and asked what time I should be back. She said she was going to Leicester to visit her sister for 3 days and for “us kids to go have fun!”

majortom69 I am the youngest in my family and my parents took me everywhere they traveled. Still blows my mind that she just asked that I leave a message at the hotel so she knew I was ok. Still blows my mind! I went to tons of his concerts and met Iman. My favorite memory of him was when I was at a function for families with kids adopted from China. Told my friends I was taking my daughter for a walk. We had it planned so David could meet my beautiful baby! He hummed in her ear. Such great memories

majortom69 He never told me he was sick. About 18months after he passed I received a package. It was from David’s assistant. A beautiful letter explaining how important he felt I was cuz I was discrete and accepted him for him. I never push pressure on him and even tho he was quite a bit older, we understood each other. Along with the letter was a note from Iman and a necklace, bracelet and earrings.

majortom69 I was shocked! I met Iman for lunch after that and told her I felt odd taking jewelry from him. She assured me that he had picked the items out and she thanked me for being his friend saying he could always be himself with me. She said he appreciated that I wasn’t “one of those girls” that just wanted 5 seconds of fame. But wow, crazy times! I miss him everyday and little things will make me remember something and I know he’s there.

bgfanspark @majortom69 Wow lucky you to have those memories! What awesome experiences! I got to see Bowie in concert 6 times. I almost got to meet him once but it didn’t work out in the end. You mention NYC. Are you from the area? Are you going to the Bowie Fan Convention in NYC in June?

majortom69 @bgfanspark unfortunately I won’t be home in July so I can’t go. I live in CT, half way between NYC and Boston on Long Island Sound. We have plans to go over to England and find my daughter a place to live while she’s studying for her PhD and classes begin in September. She has everything she needed as she studied in England for her Masters. Not knowing where was next, she donated so much stuff! A friend held onto some things hoping she would return!

bgfanspark @majortom69 that was my summer last year. As I went to the first Bowie convention in Liverpool. So we spent 10 days in England and then my nephew got married last summer as well. To bad you can’t make it to the convention this year. It’s a ton of fun! They bring in lots of people connected to Bowie. You get to meet them. Have your photos with them. They tell stories. There’s a big dance party one night and everyone dresses up in their best Bowie outfits.

majortom69 @bgfanspark I think I might feel strange going. Over the years I met so many people through him and it would be strange seeing them again. And I’ve never shared this story with many people because we liked our friendship and relationship the way it was and I didn’t want to be “one of those girls” who just wanted to be seen. I’ve met people that most people never would but I had a adventurous childhood and my parents knew so many people.

majortom69 I actually ran into a musician that I met thru DB while my daughter and I were in Sinaia, Romania a few years ago. It was crazy that he did a double take and then asked if he knew me. Craziest part was, it was my daughter who made him recognize me! David had told him that I was married and had adopted a beautiful little girl from China. I got to know people at the studio and they loved that I treated them normal.

majortom69 They would joke that when I was done with DB, they’d be happy to have me. He would say that I was one of a kind and they could all look but not touch. David was so intelligent and well read. We’d talk books and some of the others would roll their eyes. I was David’s little young thing and it was fun! Everyone said I acted so much older and I did because of how I grew up.
