Origami Thread Book

The Origami Thread Book is a refined take on Chinese thread books, an elegant form of folk art indigenous to central China and thousands of years old. Originally used to organize, store, and safely transport embroidery thread, it can do the same for jewelry, seeds, or anything that fits into its 31 folding compartments. It is held closed with a braided elastic cord which is finished in a gold toned metal magnetic clasp. The Origami Thread Book is hand made entirely of origami folded Elephant Hide paper. Made exclusively by the Zanders Mill in Germany, Elephant Hide paper has a parchment like finish and its randomly veined surface is unusually durable and resistant to scuffs, water, oil, and dirt. Wipes clean with a damp cloth. All the colors are fade resistant. It also boasts a FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) Mix of 80%. The Origami Thread Book has 5 layers of folding, collapsible compartments: • Layer 1 has 1 square compartment (6” x 7”). • Layer 2 has 2 rectangular compartments (6” x 3”). • Layer 3 has 4 square compartments (3” x 3”). • Layer 4 has 8 rectangular compartments (3” x 1.5”). • Layer 5 has 16 square compartments (1.5” x 1.5”).
