This metallic, slinky, attention-stealing little number is early aughts’ American Apparel at its finest. A hard-to-find piece! Truly an ICONIC indie sleaze gem, for sure— this original vintage AA disco skirt was actually *there* in the electroclash/art punk scene the first time around! I will say, there’s something especially magical about this particular piece— I think maybe it’s the combination of the type of fabric used and the cut of the garment— it is *the* most flattering skirt I’ve ever worn. It snatches the waist, creates/enhances shapely hourglass curves, and makes the butt look good too! The photos really do not do this skirt justice— the fabric has this shimmering, sparkly luster to it, and the color is much richer. It’s also in great condition! This skirt was well loved, but also well cared for, as I treated it like the delicate item it is and made sure to always wash by hand, lay flat to dry, store carefully, etc. Its only issues are quite minor: as shown in the last three photos above, there are a few areas where the fabric is a little bit puckered and pulled, but in my experience, that kinda just comes with the territory with AA’s disco fabric. O.G. American Apparel is seriously the best. Sigh. I will miss this amazing skirt so, SO much, but I know there’s no way it will ever fit me again…that ship has *sailed* lol.
