The Zoom Master L-508 is a spot zoom digital exposure meter from Japanese manufacturer Sekonic and produced in 1997.
This meter was designed to meter ambient and strobe lighting. It uses a built-in 1° to 4° nine element zoom lens for reflected light measurements. This is done by looking through the viewfinder and position the circle to meter the subject. While incident light reading uses the lumisphere. The lumisphere can be used in in a raised or a down flat diffusion mode by rotating the collar surrounding the sphere. Calculation modes include aperture priority, shutter priority and EV mode. Flash can be measured in corded or non-corded modes. A basic Cine mode is available, with the ability to set shutter angle at 180° or 220°. Handy features include duo ISO settings, handy for instant film or filter adjustments. The measurements can also be averaged. It is powered by a single LR6/AA battery. The battery is not included.
In 1998, a variation designed for Cine is available as the L-508 Cine Zoom-Master. It has all the same features as the regular version, but major additions include foot candle, lux, and foot lambert readout settings. The shutter angle can be adjusted from 5° to 270° in 5° increments. Frame rate setting are also expanded. Both meters were discontinued in 2003.
