💫Born&raised New Yorker. Dogs! Jeans! Bagels! Coffee!🤸🏻‍♂️I might like animals a little. Just your average city girl living with her 2 rescue pups & escaping to farms/beaches whenever possible. jzhaowow @shibrooke measuring right now. So wonderful that you have pictures with measurements! I agree with you completely on your thoughts on fashion. I started using Poshmark to help me with all a lot of fast fashion purging and have really been enjoying streamlining my choices, finding my personal style, and oh my all this wonderful vintage! Upcycling is big for me this year...now if only I could get to soul cycle too!

Measuring beforehand has made things a whole lot easier for me! -- I've learned so much about the fashion industry over the last few years; I think brands like Ref & Stella have done such an incredible job of "rebranding" eco-friendly fashion. It's definitely super difficult to change old habits, but I'm getting there! 🌱🤗 We'll have to get you to SoulCycle sometime soon!! Brand-new studio in Park Slope is wonderful and full of the most amazing staff! @jzhaowow

cedricaubert I was at this talk recently where the owner of Reformation was on the panel. She said she saw the huge damage the fashion industry did to the environment with her last label. And she also had to wait long periods for orders and reorders from from factories in china; depending where they slot your items in the production queue. Sometimes it took up to 12-16 weeks. (Pt 1)

cedricaubert She built her own factory here in LA to pay fair wages/hire local workers and to control environmental factors (solar energy etc). BUT she also realized, getting a quick turnaround on the garments meant she sold up to 6x more of each item bc they were in the shop faster. Ultimately, sucking up the higher costs by doing the right thing ethically, translated to good business and increased revenue💰 for her. Win win. I absolutely agree with your philosophy on fashion and clothing. (Pt 2)

cedricaubert @shibrooke it was at Radical Optimism in LA. It's a monthly panel discussion and and the august topic was "how we make." September's topic was "how we buy" and had a bunch of cool speakers, including the founder of Parachute (the home textiles) company. I'm very passionate about these issues. shibrooke Sounds AMAZING. Have to start keeping a better eye out for similar in NYC. I feel like educating the consumer & encouraging people to think about how they buy is key; so easy to shop mindlessly when you can just tap a screen & have whatever en route. Been phasing out chemicals & it actually does take more time/effort/digging to find env-friendly/ethical/natural substitutes. SO backwards. @cedricaubert

cedricaubert I'm the same with my health and beauty. Taken the last two years to slowly do it and I have a few products left. It's easy to find natural ones (many are still toxic) but it takes time and effort to find the good ones that work. I read ingredients and cross check everything on the Think Dirty app and Health Living app (EWG). I'm open to any suggestions you have as well. xx

curated_404 Oh I love this! Fashion is the most fun, but so bad on our beautiful planet. Same with beauty. I’ve been learning about more vegan/cruelty free products lately. They’re just as good, if not better, than the non-cruelty free so I have no idea why companies still feel compelled to test on animals 🤷🏻‍♀️
