We think he was born blind. Found in rural north Ga on an unpaved road by a local female sheriff's deputy. She was kind enough to take him to the local shelter but it is a high risk shelter and when they realized he was blind the attachment to him and urgency to find a home now more than ever. He became quite the star in GA. I'm convinced this case was meant to be. He is my angel. I'm sorry I don't have experience (oddly enough) with an animal who loses his site. He will know the "territory" so you will just need to keep the arrangement like he knows. Your voice will be his eyes. His paws will clue him in as to where he is and what is next. Smell will be more a part of his awareness more than probably Sam's. You can do it!!!!

@isabellascloset =( I just saw your response again because I remember thinking I had to be sure and respond. When I read it I said out loud " hell yeah he loves me Isabella! You know it!" Hahaha. He does though and is never out of my reach at any time. Last night he snored so loud and hard ALL night long. I swear I may need to keep the guest room closest to mine open for me! He's a mess. Good to "see" you here. I hope you had a great weekend!

@vondiefish he has really made me stop and think about how grateful I should be for my eyesight. I think he knows somehow that he is a little different but he tries so hard to be just one of the boys! =) he came into my life at the most interesting time. I think I was lucky to have had him come by and say "yeah, she will do I guess" lol. He really needs a book written about his life and us meeting and our initial challenges that turned so quickly after a pow wow we had. It's really book worthy. I've had over 60 rescues of all kinds of animals and loved them each so much. He brought an entirely new mojo and it has been incredible to learn life through his mind. I'm very blessed. xxoo

@wendac omgosh I totally missed your sweet comment. I swear I don't think notifications on here are right. Anyway, thank you. He is actually a boxer. I get asked about mastiff quite a bit so it makes me wonder if there is any mix of that in his breeding? I just hope those people have stopped doing whatever they were to let Sam be found the way he was. Good God I'm always amazed at the level of cruelty. =(

Oh and I will tell you what they finally told me in email here. I guess they only correspond with an email, which is fine in order to have written documentation, but I'm not happy. In fact I'm considering just closing my closet and saying thanks but no thanks. I will tag you when I get a quick chance to tell you about what i got in email. xxoo

Yes i did. Im sure he is an incredible dog. One of our dogs has one eye got blinded that started when she was still a puppy. Now she is 15yrs old. 😄 they are all angels!

@briley2009 animals really speak to me. I know they probably don't react much different than we would if we lost sight In an eye or was born blind, but to be dumped like that having no clue where you are going?? I'm glad you baby had you during the eye issue. That definitely makes the treatment more guarded by you. You don't want to not do enough, but I think there are times when we try to do to much. Your baby is 15? WOW I love it!

Thanks @melliescloset he is a sweetie. @havana1216 are boxers incredible? I'm amazed by his mobility even blind but he is also very attached to me. Doesn't let me go far without him. I'm crazy about the breed and this is only my second boxer rescue out of all of the dogs I've rescued since I started 24 years ago. It just kind of depends what rescue I have ties to that need the most urgent help when I agree to take another one. The boxers were both rescues I had heard about and knew that I had to take them and not allow them to stay in foster homes for much longer. Sad sad situations to rehab them both through. Anyway, I love my Sam! Look how he gives people discounts in my closet. Haha have a good one! Jacque

Someone we trusted to come back in our lives who is now back in prison. Busy with Tommy being sick for 3 weeks, my MIL in the hospital with pneumonia for a week, my mom needing more physical therapy, and I'm having teeth problems!!! Allowing them to move on and cross the rainbow bridge is truly the most loving thing we'll ever do for them. We're demonstrating the ultimate act of love.
