shannahh @niki88nm You’re welcome! I have seen way too many fake Uggs for sale on here for close to retail prices 😬
Feb 17Reply
niki88nm
niki88nm @shannahh yea im kinda getting let down.. ive purchased some good stuff but i know ive gotten some fake stuff.. so Im doubting Posh's commitment to sale real stuff
Feb 17Reply

shannahh @niki88nm It can be really hard to tell sometimes!

obrienkrystal
obrienkrystal Looking at these pictures, other than the outverted stitching... I still can't tell what all the circled stuff means 😢
Feb 17Reply
sleiteritz
sleiteritz @obrienkrystal ditto 🤔😶
Feb 17Reply
karisander79
karisander79 Also there’s supposed to be 2tags inside the left boot, one which is a holographic one in the newer uggs.
Feb 17Reply
shannahh
shannahh @karisander79 Correct! 😃 Good call I had some screenshot pictures of crappy foldover style fake tags but ran out of room to post them here
Feb 17Reply
shannahh
shannahh @sleiteritz Haha 😄! Sorry, I know it is a lot! I wanted to put words on the photos too but it was all just so much. Too much to comment upon for each one Basically everything circled is a sign of fake-ness with the different boots. I have those “D” shaped suede pieces circled on a lot of photos... they all have a single line of stitching (authentic UGGs have double stitching/two lines). It is a dead giveaway
Feb 17Reply
shannahh
shannahh @obrienkrystal ^^^ see above I know it is a lot! There was too many wrong things in each photo to add words/captions on all of them

apparelaffaire THANK YOU! Ive seen sooo many fakes on here, & Alot of people cant tell the difference! This will help alot of people!
Feb 17Reply
shannahh
shannahh @brysmum08 Yay! Glad it is helpful! A couple of these photos are pretty good fakes. I can see how people could be easily tricked. Many of the boots here in the collages actually ended up selling! I saw some sell for as high as $125-140. INSANE 😵
Feb 17Reply
mrsmurr
mrsmurr @shannahh thank you for posting this! I too have seen a lot of knock offs on here. I’ve brought it to an ambassadors attention and she let me handle the situation but the boots are still up for sale at 70.00. I have an extensive collection of Uggs so I can spot a fake. The problem is convincing the person selling them that they got swindled!
Feb 18Reply
shannahh
shannahh @mrsmurr You’re welcome!! There are definitely some good fakes out there. Some of the Bailey Bow ones especially look really nice but sadly they are fake. I have had so many people say they specifically bought their (blatantly fake) boots at Nordstrom. Sometimes, if they have the box, the box itself will look real. I am convinced scammers may buy real boots there & return fakes in the boxes which are then resold to unsuspecting customers!
Feb 18Reply
mrsmurr
mrsmurr @shannahh what a shame on so many counts! You would think Nordstrom would be checking these returns. I’m not sure who to even contact on Poshmark to have fakes taken down. I clearly told the last girl that she could get in trouble for reselling them but has left them up. I don’t want to come off as a “know it all” to people just have seen the legit and the fakes, it’s a buyer beware situation.
Feb 18Reply
kyaanderson
kyaanderson @shannahh I just saw a post that was a pair in an ugg bag
Feb 18Reply
shannahh
shannahh @kyaanderson This is a tricky one! I have seen some posts online talking about different Ugg bags and some being authentic. I wonder if that is an older thing? 🧐 I have ordered several pairs recently direct from the UGG site itself and none have bags, or any plastic wrap on the boots. Just the tissue paper and cardboard foot & shaft inserts. In my collage pics here at least, the Uggs seen in the plastic wrap are clearly fake.
Feb 18Reply
shannahh
shannahh @kyaanderson I have not personally shopped at an Ugg store though, so I cannot comment as to how their latest shopping bags look from a physical location. I’d love to hear tips if anyone has any! I have seen some super funky fake Uggs on here though, wrapped up in plastic bag wrap covers with the Ugg logo on it
Feb 18Reply
shannahh
shannahh @mrsmurr Yikes. That pair you just tagged me on is absolutely fake. So many notable issues with the shape, tag, and materials/workmanship. And the price?! 😮😧😱 Ahhhh
Feb 19Reply
mrsmurr
mrsmurr @shannahh yep exactly! She took the listing down.
Feb 19Reply
keepmecute511
keepmecute511 @shannahh Hey Love I was wondering if you could help me! I’m looking for a cheaper pair if Uggs bc I live in Hawaii and only need a pair for when I make trips to visit family in colder weather. I’m not very familiar with Uggs at all and a lot of the pairs I’m coming across have a bottom sole that is different then shown on the website! Instead of the Sunburst design, they have the stripe in the middle with the little suns!
Feb 19Reply
keepmecute511
keepmecute511 @shannahh Is it okay if I tag you in one so you can let me know if Uggs with those soles are fake or if it’s just a really old pair?
Feb 19Reply
shannahh
shannahh @keepmecute511 Hi! Sure, you can tag me! I’ll take a look and then reply here. Those old ones with the former sole pattern are sometimes tricky to decipher if they are authentic or not, due to the pattern wearing down over time with wear. I’ll take a look though! 😃
Feb 19Reply
keepmecute511
keepmecute511 @shannahh You’re awesome! I’ll tag you now!
Feb 19Reply
shannahh
shannahh @keepmecute511 Oof. Those are definitely some tricky ones because of how old they are! The stitching looks pretty good, and the toes and boot shafts look good and seem to have the right shape. One thing that gives me pause is the back labels on the heel and how they are kind of pixelated and it is hard to clearly see the spacing on the letters in the word “Australia” (uneven spacing would be a sign of fakeness, but these are sort of blurry 🧐).
Feb 19Reply
shannahh
shannahh @keepmecute511 Also I am not completely sure on how the inside tag labels are supposed to look in older Uggs. This must have been before the single strip tag listing sizes in front of a second strip tag with the Ugg holograms. The fur looks pretty good! (it doesn’t have that fake shiny look to it) In any event, $20 is a great price! I would take the chance on it
Feb 19Reply
keepmecute511
keepmecute511 @shannahh You are absolutely amazing! Thank you so much! I truly appreciate it! 😘
Feb 19Reply
shannahh
shannahh @keepmecute511 You’re welcome! For $20, and just for use to going to cold places, I would say those are worth it 😃. And if/when you no longer want or need them, you could surely resell for at least that price or more!
Feb 19Reply
shannahh
shannahh @thequeen1017 Oooh yay, you are welcome!! There are a ton of fakes on here I almost have enough new photos for a whole new post of examples haha
Feb 21Reply
shannahh
shannahh @awuraposh I saw those Uggs.... the fur is definitely a giveaway 😬. I would have also wondered about seeing the barcode on the outside of the shoe box, and to see if the photo of the item and item name/title matched up. And of course like you mentioned, looking for the colored stripe across the top of the barcode
Feb 21Reply
caliqqqq
caliqqqq Off Topic question- Can u tell me if water damaged uggs can be repaired by using uggs cleaning products or not able to? It’s actually my daughters question thx!!
Feb 24Reply
shannahh
shannahh @caliqqqq Hi! I have had some luck using the Uggs cleaning set to remove water stains from boots. Though with other pairs, the stains have not come out as easily. I think it may depend on how long the stain has been there for, like how set in it is.
Feb 24Reply
shannahh
shannahh @caliqqqq Also there are some great videos online of people pretty much cleaning Uggs in a sink... including fully submerging in water, and even using a front-loading washing machine 😮. (Never the dryer) On the Ugg site though, their official cleaning video shows them just dampening the boots. I had the best luck cleaning a black pair and a chestnut pair of my own boots. Not so much luck with my purple or pink pairs though 😐
Feb 24Reply
caliqqqq
caliqqqq @shannahh tnx you, I’ll tell my daughter 😊

I’m glad we all have support on here and love seeing Poshers helping each other out ❤️ Feel free to check out my closet with Authentic UGG Boots as well as other designer shoes 🙂 Not only do I sell on here but I purchase lots of things as well & understand the fear of getting ripped off, thankfully it’s never happened to me. Well happy Poshing ladies.

tamielliott
tamielliott Is there a way to spot a fake in moccasins/slippers? I am looking to buy several pair for my staff and I want to make sure that they are real.
Mar 01Reply
shannahh
shannahh @tamielliott Hi! That is a good question 🤔! I am unfortunately not as familiar with the slippers and moccasins as I am with the various boot styles. I would think some of the same things would apply though ... looking for stitching that looks too prominent or uneven, fur that seems too shiny/thin/fake, shoddy seams & bindings, and logos in the wrong spot or with poorly spaced lettering.
Mar 01Reply
shannahh
shannahh @tamielliott What sort of slippers are you looking at? The Fluff Momma slip-on ones, or the kind where it encompasses your whole foot?
Mar 01Reply
shannahh
shannahh @torii0126 Thank you so much! Your Uggs look very nice! 😃 Wishing you speedy sales

sophy_picks
sophy_picks Whoaaa! Thank you for this! I always see the reported replica Uggs when I’m reviewing reported listings and I always think “No way, why would anyone waste their time making replica Uggs?” I had no idea they were this common! 😱
Mar 03Reply
sophy_picks
sophy_picks Btw I saw you talking about the Fluff Momma’s in the previous comments.. I’ve been looking for a pair of those since 2008!!
Mar 03Reply
shannahh
shannahh @sophy_treasure You’re welcome! Hopefully it is helpful! There are a ton of fake Uggs on here. When they sell for a super low price that’s one thing. But when someone is charging very close to the full retail price for a fake pair, as if they were authentic ones, it is pretty ridiculous. And I love Fluff Mommas! I finally got the white pair a last month. They are so wild and furry but comfy as can be!
Mar 04Reply
salvicutie82
salvicutie82 OMG! Great post! thank you for the info.
Mar 05Reply
shannahh
shannahh @salvicutie82 You’re welcome! I am thinking of making a second post with all new pictures ... there are so many fakes on here, it has become kind of fun hunting them down like 🧐🧐🧐 haha
Mar 05Reply
salvicutie82
salvicutie82 @shannahh Seriously! You go girl! I will come to you for authentication before I buy any uggs here lol
Mar 05Reply
shannahh
shannahh @lisagwilliams Hey! I would say that pair is not authentic. I have never seen real Uggs come with the little size number stickers on the back of the soles. There is something off about the soles.... like the material is too “foam”-y looking. Also the brand label looks to be placed too high up on the back heel. And then looking at the box, the bar code does not have a colored line across the top of it.
Mar 06Reply
shannahh
shannahh @lisagwilliams But, I will say the price is reasonable if you are not looking for something authentic! If they were priced at like $125, it would be a whole different story haha
Mar 06Reply
shannahh
shannahh @lisagwilliams Oh lord, and they have a hang TAG attached! Stuck right through the boot 😧😑
Mar 06Reply
lisagwilliams
lisagwilliams @shannahh Thx hun😘 I agree, the price was the first indication- but maybe that what she meant by “price reflects authenticity” Too good to b true imo- I’m only going for the og authentic Ugg’s! Ur such a doll to help your fellow poshers 😇🌈 I love this community 💕
Mar 06Reply
shannahh
shannahh @lisagwilliams You’re welcome! 😃 When I read the description, that was the impression I got too. Like what it implies is that because the price is so low, that should be your big indicator about whether they are really authentic. I don’t blame you for wanting just the original authentic ones! The quality is great and they last a long time if taken care of properly!
Mar 06Reply
lisagwilliams
lisagwilliams @shannahh I agree, they last forever if you take good care of them- which is why I have an older pair for yucky days to preserve my fancier ones. Well hopefully whoever buys them knows what they’re getting! Have a wonderful night hun💕

Mar 09Reply
zoeykk
zoeykk @jbritthb yes please do!!
Mar 09Reply
shannahh
shannahh @jbritthb Hi! Yes, definitely feel free to tag me on whatever Ugg listings you’d like :)
Mar 09Reply
shannahh
shannahh @lisagwilliams Oh yeah, those are totally fake! Wrong tags, overly slopes forefoot, stitches across the top edges, fur looks overly shiny/thin.... BUT, the price is pretty low so if someone doesn’t care about authenticity, it may not make a difference to them
Mar 09Reply
shannahh
shannahh @lisagwilliams OMG... and I just saw the tag says “Made in Australia” 😆
Mar 09Reply
lisagwilliams
lisagwilliams @shannahh I know the tag geesh haha. It is so nuts how many fakes appear on here 🙄
Mar 09Reply
shannahh
shannahh @lisagwilliams Haha! So many is right!
Mar 09Reply
shannahh
shannahh @mrsmurr Oh yes, those purple boots are totally fake 😬
Mar 11Reply
mrsmurr
mrsmurr @shannahh I know! She took them down...
Mar 11Reply
shannahh
shannahh @mrsmurr I just left a long comment listing why they were fake. That hologram tag was not how they are supposed to look. The hang tag on it was a dead giveaway, not to mention the shape, size stickers at the heels, too-shiny fur, and binding stitching.
Mar 11Reply
mrsmurr
mrsmurr @shannahh yes I tried to leave a comment but it wouldn’t allow me to post. Not sure if she took them down or blocked me.
Mar 11Reply
shannahh
shannahh @mrsmurr No, she took it down I think. She said she was not aware of them being fake, and was going to take them to an Ugg store to be looked at. It would be one thing if they were only $25.... but $125 for fake boots is just like AAAAHHH 😵
Mar 11Reply
mrsmurr
mrsmurr @shannahh I feel badly for those that truly get taken on these knockoffs.
Mar 11Reply
cairebear09
cairebear09 @skylalaufer Here’s the post I mentioned. Pay close attention to the stitching that the bows are attached to. Real= double stitching. Fake= single stitch. Hope this helps!
Mar 14Reply
shannahh
shannahh @cairebear09 Yes, always a good thing to look for! Those single-stitched “D” pieces are a dead giveaway to the boots being fake.’ Hopefully this pictures help! I have collected almost enough photos of fake boots on here to start a couple new full collage threads haha
Mar 14Reply
cairebear09
cairebear09 @shannahh It’s helped a lot!! This post helped pass the info on to another Posher, unfortunately delivering the bad news she had been had. 😣. @skylalaufer see above post ☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻. Thanks again for your awesome pointers @shannahh! Happy Poshing! 😊
Mar 14Reply
skylalaufer
skylalaufer @cairebear09 thank you ladies sucks that I was played wish I would of seen this post before I bought them
Mar 14Reply
shannahh
shannahh @skylalaufer Ah dang. Yes, there are a ton of fakes on here and people charging nearly full retail prices for them.... it’s nuts! Also when something is specifically listed as “authentic” when it is clearly NOT 😡.
Mar 14Reply
tobyoshi1028
tobyoshi1028 thank you for the great post ! I'm learning everyday from poshers like you thank thank you!
Mar 15Reply
tobyoshi1028
tobyoshi1028 should we report as replica when we see fakes??
Mar 15Reply
shannahh
shannahh @tobyoshi1028 Hi! You could probably do that, or maybe just point it out politely to the seller. It seems like a lot of people do not even realize their boots are not authentic! It’s always a tricky situation though 😬
Mar 15Reply
shannahh
shannahh @mrsmurr I had written the same whole thing out to that seller listing all of the specifics of why her boots are fake and what precisely makes them that way. She deleted the comments! Apparently she also deleted yours telling her the same exact thing - but I can see what you wrote as it calms up in my notifications feed. Gah. That is super shady to delete comments saying the boots are fake. Some unsuspecting buyer is going to pay a lot for those and they are not authentic!
Mar 16Reply
mrsmurr
mrsmurr @shannahh interesting I didn’t think you could delete comments. Well, hopefully people are aware. SMH 🤦🏼‍♀️
Mar 16Reply
shannahh
shannahh @mrsmurr I think you can “report” comments, which is what I am guessing she did. But it is not like our comments were bad or incorrect or anything! It was all true! Those boots are clearly not authentic, and she is deceiving potential buyers. ESP trying to sell them for $120! 😮
Mar 16Reply
mrsmurr
mrsmurr @shannahh yes, not sure but perhaps a complaint to customer service to alert them of the posting will get it removed. We’re these the white colored ones I tagged you in? Can’t find them now.
Mar 16Reply
shannahh
shannahh @mrsmurr Hi, yes, it was a white pair in plastic bags with fake hang tags that I tagged you on. She had deleted all of my other comments and yours, except that tag. Maybe she took down the listing?? Or someone else reported it?? Idk.... 🧐
Mar 16Reply
shannahh
shannahh @mrsmurr Found it. Still up, but the price is now $50
Mar 16Reply
mrsmurr
mrsmurr @shannahh not finding them so perhaps she took them down. Just found another pair! 🤦🏼‍♀️😂😂😂

heatherelana__j
heatherelana__j @niki88nm I had an account on posh called @fakemakeupexpos where I shared pictures of fake makeup and poshmark suspended my ability to buy anything or pretty much do anything but browse the app. I asked them about it and they told me they were direct quote "aware of the issue of counterfeit items in the poshmark community" but yet I see fake listings on a daily basis that I have personally reported and are still up so.. take that how you will lol

shooksters
shooksters My uggs I bought from an Ugg store in downtown Chicago, 7 years ago; have different tags then the ones in your pictures???
Mar 18Reply
shannahh
shannahh @thestylecloset7 The hang tags in these pictures are all fake. What tags do you mean from your boots? Like the inside tag with the label?
Mar 18Reply
shooksters
shooksters @shannahh no the one on the back of the heel that says ugg
Mar 18Reply
shannahh
shannahh @thestylecloset7 That back label has changed over time. The newest ones only say “UGG”, without the Australia part. The older heel tags may also have a different background
Mar 18Reply
shannahh
shannahh @thestylecloset7 Basically, you WANT your tags & boots to look different from all of these ones here, because these pictures all show fake boots! Haha (with the exception of the one classic tall boot at the end with the green check mark ✅ )

Mar 20Reply
shannahh
shannahh @ltr1011 Hi! I think that pair you tagged me on is authentic. The stitching and trim all look to be neatly done and even, and the D pieces have the double stitching like they are supposed to. I am not too familiar with boots with that sort of shiny material since it comes out as looking kind of floppy, but I am guessing that is how they are meant to be. They are pretty boots!

discolemonade48 Can I tag you in a pair I just bought and you call tell me if they’re fake!?
Aug 01Reply
shannahh
shannahh @discolemonade48 Sure, I will take a look!
Aug 01Reply
shannahh
shannahh @discolemonade48 Oof. That pair is really tricky because the image quality is so poor! 😐 The lighting and boots themselves are really dark, and it is hard to see the fur and soles clearly. It does not look like there is any holographic tag, but maybe she just didn’t show it ??
Aug 01Reply
discolemonade48
discolemonade48 @shannahh darn ! I thought the stitching in the back looked like what you said the fake ones look like. from what you see do they look real?
Aug 01Reply
shannahh
shannahh @discolemonade48 It is so hard to tell from those photos. I tried turning my screen brightness way up. The boots are such a dark color, and so it is hard to see the material and fur. Plus with how some of the pics are at angles, it makes it hard to see how well the heel labels line up. This could just be a old pair of the classic style boot that is more worn. When you get them, you could always take them to a store that sells Uggs to see if they can authenticate them in person!
Aug 01Reply
discolemonade48
discolemonade48 @shannahh okay thanks so much!

Aug 10Reply
shannahh
shannahh @lvhooks I would be suspicious of someone who says that their child tears out all of the tags... 🧐. Seems a bit sketchy haha. I am not sure about the made in Vietnam ones. I have heard stories of people buying real boots at Dillards and then returning them with a pair of fake boots in the box and getting a refund (while keeping the authentic boots)
Aug 10Reply
lvhooks
lvhooks @shannahh People are so sketchy. I have now checked all of my booth. I only paid $25 for the torn out tag on boots. I am certain that all of mine are real . I have been wanting to buy a pair on Poshmark for my daughter and I think the Bailey Bows are so questionable. Do you know anything about the uptown lace up uggs? I love them but I honestly believe they are not real because look at the bottom
Aug 10Reply
lvhooks
lvhooks @shannahh If any of mine are questionable I will go to Dillards they know me there that’s how many I have purchased between me and my daughter I think 13 pairs in five years. I will demand my money back because it will have the logo on it or proof of purchase I mean Are there any Bailey Bows that I should buy right now

kayesther
kayesther LOVE this! I used to work in shoes at Nordstrom, and we had an Ugg rep come in and show us how to tell real Uggs from fake ones. There’s some incredible fakes out there that are nearly indistinguishable from real ones, and posts like this can help a lot of people from getting scammed!
Aug 25Reply
shannahh
shannahh @kayesther Yay! Yes, I hope it is helpful! I have heard stories from stores such as Nordstrom and Dillard’s where scammers will buy a real pair of Uggs, then return a fake lookalike pair in the real box to the store for a refund. Thus getting their money back AND keeping the authentic new boots. It is nuts! And then some unsuspecting buyer comes along and buys fake boots in a real box.... horrible 😠

shannahh @eso1224 Hi! So the knit blue green woven Uggs seem pretty good. The woven ones are always a bit trickier when it comes to examining for authenticity, but the knit looks even and the label stitching appears good. I just wonder about the box shown in the 1st picture —- the label seems to say “chestnut” ?! So I would wonder if that box came with a different pair of boots

shannahh
shannahh @isabellaasdfghj Hi, so the picture quality on those black Bailey button boots is absolutely horrendous (blurry, super up close, strange angles), but I think they are authentic. It is hard to see the full box, but the sticker itself on the box seems legit, and from what I could tell of the blurry pictures, I think the boots are okay. And for $15 you really can’t beat that price! They do seem really worn though

raggedysue1962
raggedysue1962 @niki88nm they don't care! I have seen listings where the seller has said in the listing that they are knock-offs. And that alone is against Posh policy. But you can send this information to Posh and they do nothing about it. And if you file a claim they'll usually side with the buyer. I am doing no more listings with posh and the moving to a new company that you have no fees accept a low monthly fee that covers everything.

Oct 24Reply
sara_bethhhh
sara_bethhhh @shannahh my main issue was she had pictures of 100% authentic boots posted first and a few one the ones she has now . The fur was kinda shiny and didn’t look like regular ugg fur. She ended up deleting the pictures of the real uggs off the post after I said something

shannahh @cldiaz95 Hi, so those look okay in terms of the fur and shape. The button is kind of strange.. I wonder if that is some other Ugg style because it is not the same kind of button as shown in the stock picture. But it could still be okay and just a different variation. That’s a good price!

cldiaz95 @shannahh I didn't even notice the button. Usually it says ugg on there 🤔
Nov 10Reply
realitydixie
realitydixie Yes, Thinking ur buying a pair of Uggs for $3 is ridiculous. Its also ridiculous to list shoes as "Good Uggs" & "Bad Uggs". What exactly is a "Bad" Ugg? I've never seen a Bad Ugg, however I have seen a FAKE Ugg. My point, maybe u shouldn't use the word "Ugg" in ur description if its Not An Ugg. Give a description of what ur selling, with *** and a footnote stating "Not Uggs". If ppl buy stuff without reading description of what they're purchasing, that's their fault, not urs. 🐞🍀
Nov 15Reply
shannahh
shannahh @realitydixie Thank you! Fake Uggs = Bad Uggs. They clearly are not true UGG boots, but that’s the way people see them. They are tagged as Uggs, have all the UGG logos, and are being sold by the sellers under the guise of being authentic “Uggs”. So for all intents and purposes people are viewing them as Uggs. So this is to hopefully let them know that just because something appears one way, or is tagged/labeled as such, does not make it true.
Nov 15Reply
shannahh
shannahh @realitydixie AND.... I’m also trying to give a lesson in reading comprehension 😄. It’s a valuable skill! haha
Nov 15Reply
shannahh
shannahh @alyssaparent Here are some more examples if you’d like to check them out! If you compare your pair to the grey classic boots on the UGG site, that may also be helpful in spotting the differences. Just trying to save you from a buyer opening a case for selling fakes!

Nov 16Reply
mrsmurr
mrsmurr @shannahh Amen! I was telling my girlfriend about this this afternoon and she called us the “Ugg Police”. I’m waiting for either the block or a snarky response, get ready!🙄
Nov 16Reply
shannahh
shannahh @mrsmurr haha! It’s such a case of deception for the buyer though. Like if the person who bought them was expecting an authentic pair, and then they come to find out they actually are getting a shoddy, poorly-made knockoff 😐. I have bought actual authentic pairs on here for that low of a price
Nov 16Reply
mrsmurr
mrsmurr @shannahh yep me too! In fact I bought a brand new pair of quilted leather ones today on FB market place for 70.00, daughter didn’t want them. I did! Yanks my chain when people like this chick gets all fussy about it. I’m like girl you’d be yanked if someone sold you fakes and said well ya should of looked closer.🤦🏼‍♀️
Nov 16Reply
shannahh
shannahh @mrsmurr Ooh that’s a good price! Nice 😃 I hope the buyer of those boots either knows they are a fake or doesn’t mind either way. What’s funny though is I am pretty sure the box itself was an authentic box. The label and everything looked good. So basically she was potentially selling fake boots in a real box, and then saying it is up to the buyer to know they are not real. Despite the listing clearly saying UGG boots
Nov 16Reply
mrsmurr
mrsmurr @shannahh I did mention that over on the post, hopefully the buyer is following. The other potential buyer did call her out too. Obviously that seller doesn’t care as long as she is getting paid. If Posh paid attention they’d boot her.😏

Nov 25Reply
shannahh
shannahh @carmenluvv Be warned - those “Bailey Bow Triplet” boots are definitely not authentic. If you don’t believe me or anyone else on that listing, the UGG website is a great source of comparison. You’ll see that authentic boots do not have that type of stitching around the top, and the letting on the tags is always perfectly spaced. That and the D pieces where the bow ribbons connect should have a double line of stitching.

Dec 10Reply
shannahh
shannahh @hisyelladreamm Yep, I saw that too... which I why I wanted to message you. I hate when people blatantly lie about boots being authentic! Those ones have soooo many signs of being fake ... the weird shiny fur, the boot shape, the heel tag and its placement, the foam-y looking soles, the color, binding, etc etc
Dec 10Reply
hisyelladreamm
hisyelladreamm @shannahh I’ve bought a real pair on here, and I always have to look so hard to find them.

kimberlyw77
kimberlyw77 If you put a real, pair in comparison next to the pic of fake ones. Not so much explaining....
Dec 15Reply
shannahh
shannahh @kimberlyw77 That’s my usual go-to! Advise people to compare their fake boots to pictures of the ones on the UGG site (or another reputable site). I have another photo post if you scroll through that does show side by side comparisons with real boots next to pics of the fakers 😊
Dec 15Reply
tongyai
tongyai I thought also that UGGs only came in whole sizes?? Is this correct?
Dec 19Reply
shannahh
shannahh @tongyai Hi! So some do come in half sizes. The new waterproof boots have half sizes, as do some other styles Hopefully you’re just asking about UGGs in general and not about “buying” this post — this is just an informational listing to show what specific features to look out for when shopping online for Uggs 😊
Dec 19Reply

shannahh @kguinnane Hi, not for selling stuff I am not, just other photos on there. Just FYI this listing is meant to be an informational post for showing a bunch of photo examples of what NOT to buy. I am not selling boots for $3 😊

Dec 26Reply
shannahh
shannahh @serenity_slime Hello, as it says in the description I am not selling Uggs for $3. If anyone actually sold an item for $3 on here, they would end up with only a nickel (5 cents) after the Posh fee, which would not make sense. This is an educational listing showing specifically what features to look out for so you know what NOT to buy when shopping for Uggs. These are photos of fake boots that other people where selling.

shannahh
shannahh @doxmomkaren Hi! The description states what the signs of the fake boots are. In short, they are all pictures of fakes that other people were selling (except for the one with the green check mark). I’d be happy to go into more detail about how to spot knockoff boots!
Dec 29Reply

Jan 10Reply
shannahh
shannahh @sylvsies I feel like I went overboard with circling stuff in photos on this one... it was those darn D pieces and the stitching at the top edges that really stood out and I wanted to make sure that was something people checked first
Jan 15Reply
sylvsies
sylvsies @shannahh I don't think you did, lots of examples need to be given for everyone to fully understand. We are total Ugg guru's lol but to people who don't know at all (aka 15 year old me), they will totally fall for these counterfeit things! You are a hero for making this guide!!❤️
Jan 15Reply
shannahh
shannahh @sylvsies Ugh I feel like even just 2-3 years ago I was rather clueless myself! I had thankfully bought several authentic pairs before I accidentally fell for a knockoff pair. The moment I felt all the differences in the fur, outer material, soles, and saw the crappy seams compared to the authentic pairs, I became really interested in trying to get better at spotting fakes just by looking at the photos!
Jan 15Reply
sylvsies
sylvsies @shannahh once you fall for that fake pair there is no going back! I've unfortunately fallen for this TWICE lol embarrassing.... Like idk how much the fake ones are honestly worth, $5 maybe? It's so sad seeing people get ripped off hundreds from absolutely crappy fake Uggs. I will totally go out of my way not to warn others like you do. Not cool. Not fun. 👎👎👎
Jan 15Reply
shannahh
shannahh @sylvsies I always wonder what the fakes are actually worth and what these resellers/wholesalers pay for them per pair! I was lucky that the fake pair I bought was only $20+shipping What fooled me on my fake Bailey Button purchase was that it actually had a double row of stitching on the D pieces. But I failed to account for the stitching along the top edges & the overly shiny fur. I think the seller had said something about using a flash with her photos... 😑
Jan 15Reply
redinsc
redinsc Thank you for doing this! I had to post a picture of some fake Iron Fist flats I received so people would know not to buy from this guy. The paint even peeled off the "leather"!! LOL! He cussed me out and blocked me before I could reply so I turned him in. PM did NOTHING.
Jan 15Reply
redinsc
redinsc I was even nice and told him if they're knock offs just say that, people will still buy them and even though the entire insole fell out of both shoes before I put them on, I was just going to throw some Dr. Scholl's in and wear 'em! But then the pain peeled off....LOL! But he cusses ME out! They did give me my money back and I didn't ask PM for it, but I'm sure he's still selling. He said he bought them "off of a truck". LOL!

mrsmurr @dbrockaz64 this post should be helpful along with the other post in this closet on knock offs. Please do not tag the seller you just bought boots from, she’s clueless.
Feb 05Reply
dbrockaz64
dbrockaz64 @mrsmurr no worries, no tagging from me. I have a feeling she’s young...I’m not sure. I don’t want to harass her, if the boots are fake Posh will take care of it. Just a hassle. I buy LV’s and was so frustrated with some sellers, I just started paying full price at LV!! It’s easier and less of a hassle 🙄 Thanks for everything:)
Feb 06Reply
mrsmurr
mrsmurr @dbrockaz64 you’re welcome. I try to help people out as much as I can on here and not in gage with people like her but she knows they’re fake and keeps trying to pass them off as legit. Then people like you have to go through the return hassle. I’m certain I’ve upset her with my dissertation on uggs but at the end of the day they’re fake. 🤦🏼‍♀️
Feb 06Reply
dbrockaz64
dbrockaz64 @mrsmurr holy cow!! The girl that sold me the fake UGG boots is a little crazy! She has some friend that keeps sending me messages on all of my listings telling me we need to talk… She’s trying to tell posh that I ruined her boots and that’s why I want to send them back… I just got them 30 minutes ago I’m telling you she’s a little crazy of a seller! And the boots are clearly not real the UGG label is glued on 🤦🏻‍♀️
Feb 07Reply
shannahh
shannahh @dbrockaz64 Her black boots definitely appeared counterfeit just based on the photos alone, and @mrsmurr and I can guarantee that chestnut pair is also counterfeit. She keeps trying to say that because they are a couple years old, the label is different. No. It is because they are knockoffs. UGG never made labels like that, nor do they make cheap, shiny, faux-looking “fur”. Are you filing for a refund?
Feb 07Reply
shannahh
shannahh @dbrockaz64 you can chat in to UGG using their live chat feature on the website (do it soon because they close at I think 5PM mountain time zone) and send them photos of your boots. They can verify (lack of) authenticity, and then you can use the screenshots from your chat transcript in your notice to Poshmark when you file for a return stating that the item is a replica/knockoff. That is rather creepy she is having a friend comment on your listings.... yikes 😬
Feb 07Reply
dbrockaz64
dbrockaz64 @shannahh She is now sending posh comments stating that I ruined her boots and sending pictures of labels that aren’t even the same boot! I’m telling you this kid is a little crazy, at least I think she’s a kid, she has another friend commenting on some of my other listings saying outrageous things… They are insane, I can’t believe I bought from her!
Feb 07Reply
dbrockaz64
dbrockaz64 @shannahh yes, I applied for a refund, and she is fighting it...The sunburst bottom is off too...
Feb 07Reply
shannahh
shannahh @dbrockaz64 You can tell Poshmark that multiple people already verified the boots to be knockoffs, and that you asked the seller to cancel but she went ahead and shipped anyways. I am positive she knew they were fake. I told her like last week or quite a while ago and she deleted the comments. So that shows her intent right there 😐. Is she seriously posting fake photos (of authentic boots/not her pair) and trying to claim you are scamming her by showing photos of a fake pair???
Feb 07Reply
shannahh
shannahh @dbrockaz64 Chat in to UGG, submit all of the photos, get verification and then you will have all of that in writing. You also have in writing on her original post where she was told they were not authentic and yet insisted they were anyways, purposely trying to mislead you
Feb 07Reply
dbrockaz64
dbrockaz64 @shannahh yes!! She is
Feb 07Reply
mrsmurr
mrsmurr @dbrockaz64 good lawd! I too think she is young along with all her other junior high lunch friends. I agree with @shannahh get all the ammo you can and give it to Poshmark. I had to go through the list of her minions and block them. They were posting garbage on my closet. SMDH!
Feb 07Reply
oaks6ers
oaks6ers Thank you for your comments and tips to help others. I just received a pair of UGG boots and after seeing them in person, I believe they are fake. I value your opinion. I will tag you and if you could let me know. I'm suspicious with the sole (top), placement of the label on the back of the boot. There is no padded lining for your foot and the halo-gram label is different than other UGG boots I have. Thank you!
Feb 10Reply
shannahh
shannahh @oaks6ers Hi! So that pair you just tagged me on is definitely not an authentic pair of UGG boots. It looks like they were going for a replica of the Bailey Button Tall boot. Some signs of yours being counterfeit are the stitches around the top edge, the size # stickers on the back heel, and the sole imprint like you have mentioned. It is poorly stamped and the dimensions are incorrect
Feb 10Reply
shannahh
shannahh @oaks6ers Basically the sole imprint like you mentioned has way too much/wide of a space at the top and bottom, and the two boots do not appear symmetrical with their imprints. Also the placement of the back heel label seems to be a bit too high up. So your boots do not have a hologram and QR code at all? Or do they just look fake?
Feb 10Reply
oaks6ers
oaks6ers There is a hologram in the left boot but when I compared to authentic UGG, the label and the QR label are in the wrong order. Do you have suggestion on getting refund for this? Contacting seller first or Poshmark? They were listed as "UGG" which is a registered trademark and brand name. Would be different if she posted as suede ladies boot. Thank you....MUCH appreciated!
Feb 11Reply
shannahh
shannahh @oaks6ers If you are still within your 3 day window from when you received the boots, and have NOT accepted the order yet, you can you into the purchases section and there GS a place to click “problems” with the order. One of the choices is that the item is not authentic
Feb 11Reply
shannahh
shannahh @oaks6ers And then you would list all of the features that indicate they are knockoffs and not authentic UGG boots as advertised— the stitching around the top edges should not be there, the sole imprint is incorrectly & unevenly spaced and not symmetrical between both boots, the inside tags are wrong, etc etc. You can even add to the case screenshots of authentic Bailey Button Triplet boots from the UGG website as a point of comparison
Feb 11Reply
oaks6ers
oaks6ers Yes I just received item this morning. I took photos of authentic UGG vs fake to support claim. Took a ruler to show the distance of the label and the curve of inner sole when you lay boot on its side (this was dramatically different). Authentic UGG when you would lay on its side and play a ruler on the inner sole side it is almost flat and opening. Filing under "not authentic". Thanks again.

z_ladybug
z_ladybug Thanks for the info! Unbelievable that anyone would try to buy from this listing! You could solve that, though, by editing the listing and choosing the “not for sale” button. 🙂
Mar 05Reply
shannahh
shannahh @z_ladybug Hopefully this has been helpful! The problem with marking it “not for sale” (as I have in the past) is that it does not come up in search results at all then, and people who were looking for the post could not find it upon searching. So I figured it would be best to just keep it as the lowest amount so it can be located!
Mar 05Reply

Mar 17Reply
shannahh
shannahh @roxann_stumbo Yes, I agree!! I see quite a fee fakes on here that actually have authentic boxes. It’s nuts! I have also heard of people buying authentic boots from places like Nordstrom with their great return policy, then returning lookalike fakes in the original box, thus keeping the authentic boots for themselves AND getting their money back 😬

staceysells05
staceysells05 Hi. Hopefully I did it correctly, but I just tagged you in a pair of Ugg shoes. How do you tell if shoes are authentic or not? It’s so sad they go to such trouble to make fake items. I can’t imagine how much money they could possibly make on them.
Aug 15Reply
shannahh
shannahh @staceysells05 Hi! So I am not as good with the non-boot or slipper identification, mainly because I have not seen many actual fakes for those other styles of shoes. That pair you tagged me on appears to be authentic. I have never seen a fake pair before in that same style with the crystals. The boots seem to be the most heavily copied, as well as the slippers and some accessories In any event, it seems like a good deal! Wish they were my size, I would have swooped them up haha

shannahh @bonsterb3 Hi! So some of the very new boots with the “Ugg-Pure” Wool are surprisingly lightweight. And also kind of cheap feeling in my opinion compared to the older UGG classic boots. But, some fakes are also weirdly light too! Could you post pictures here of your pair? I’d be happy to take a look

Sep 05Reply
shannahh
shannahh @xxcg Eek, really? Maybe the pair you got is a knockoff one 😬. The fakes can definitely have weird heel heights and funky sizing. Did you just recently get it? Are you still within the time frame to request a return?
Sep 05Reply
xxcg
xxcg I got them last Friday, immediately refused them and sent pictures of the difference. got a robot reply/ seller then changed the size on her listing. nothing from support about a return label even with my repeated pleas!! I am a seller on another site and would never do this to a buyer!!!
Sep 05Reply
shannahh
shannahh @xxcg Ah no! That really sucks 😬. So you put in a return request on here? Sometimes it seems like it can take a few days to get a full response from customer service for your inquiry. shannahh @sdmom2014 Hi!! I am so glad this is helpful 😃. There is a great UGG brand care kit that you can buy which cleans the boots very well. I think you can get it on Amazon and it is not too expensive. It comes with the cleaning stuff, as well as protective spray, and a freshening spray things. As well as a brush, if I am remembering it correctly. I bought it a couple years ago to clean all of my Uggs and it worked nicely!

shannahh @lindsaynixolexx Oh yes, not all price tags are bad depending on where the boot is from or what the tag itself actually looks like. These particular tags shown that are punched through the boot itself are no good. It’s crazy to punch a hole into a $$$ boot anyways 😄. I agree — in person it can be a lot easier to feel out the fakes based on shoddy materials and weird faux fur

blor88 I might have bought fakes. The UGG back of heel tag was nicely stitched but I just realized it only said UGG and not with the registered symbol. I am new to Uggs. Maybe you can take a look. I bought red bailey with a velvet bow.

surfmom23 I’ve never purchased Uggs before, but have a pair in the way and now praying I didn’t get taken. 😳🤦🏼‍♀️ This might seem like a dumb question but I was noticing that some of the boxes in the pictures say “made in China” obviously they are a product out of Australia. Is this a for sure no-no or are do they outsource production through China? Just curious. Thanks. 😊
Jun 14Reply
shannahh
shannahh @surfmom23 Hey! So UGGs actually are made in China.. that “Australia” part is just the name of it. The “UGG” boot style itself is a generic type of boots of that sheepskin style. Did you buy your boots on here? If you want to tag me on the listing, I can take a look and let you know here if they appear authentic or not

surfmom23
surfmom23 @shannahh hi there! Thanks for the reply! No I bought them on Masseys due to this reason and then after reading through the comments realized I might have been swindled anyway. I went onto their website and the photo of the booties I bought said UGG on the bottom of the sole so I think I’m good. 😊 They are the Reid booties and incredibly hard to find a grey pair in a 7.5/8 so I was excited to snatch up the last pair for $80!

nikwissman
nikwissman I have a question maybe somebody can answer for me?🤷🏼‍♀️ I saw a post on UGG sizing a while back, and some were saying a size 6 in kids, fit like a size 8 in women's. I was curious if this is true, and it is! But my question is, if a 6 in kids fits like an 8 in women's, how does a size 7 in women's fit?? All other shoes, I wear a 7.5 The 6 in UGGs I have, is a wide, and kinda snug. If I go up to a 7, would it feel like a true 7 then, and be too small for me, since I wear a 7.5 in other shoes?
Apr 06Reply
shannahh
shannahh @nikwissman UGG sizing can be tricky! I wear a 7.5 or 8 in “normal” shoes. I’ve only owned one pair of the kids UGGs, and they are a size 6. They fit me just fine! The classic UGG boots (like the basic plain ones) have run larger in my opinion. In those I usually get a 7. In some of the fancier styles like the Bailey Bow UGGs I get a size 8. I would recommend trying different pairs & styles on in person at a store, then maybe ordering that type online if you find a better deal!

kalynnx I just wanted to tell you thank you for making this post! I’ve been trying to find a pair of Bailey bow uggs to match my daughters.. I won’t wear them very much so I wasn’t trying to spend over $200 on them… there is a page on the ugh website for counterfeit products and it’s super helpful too.

shannahh @lazyblueberry Both of those looked great so I just went ahead and replied on the actual listings 😄. If they had been sketchy I would have just replied here. But they both seemed perfect and authentic! I just wonder about the silver sharpie marks on the soles of the one pair…. Maybe that was to prevent returns from where ever they got them?? Idk!

horseforme619
horseforme619 what if they have tags in both boots? and also do they have to have that holograph in the left boot? The one I have has a tag in both boots. and then there's a red marker line through the barcode on the box & also a red marker is a tag on the inside. what do you think does that sound like a fake to you? if you're able to see this .Thank you so much!
Mar 05Reply
horseforme619
horseforme619 also does it have to have Australia under the word UGG? the ones I got at the store don't.
