ireneytap @leamarie2008 I would consider this more medium weight. not as heavy as denim but sturdy enough to stay up without straps. It is fitted on top and the shorts are a standard straight fit. Its somewhat hard to say how it will fit you but this is how it fits me and we are both a similar size
