SOLD 8/2 Gorgeous, True Vintage Pub Decor ideal for a Home Bar or Man Cave!
RARE, Large Mirrored & Framed Bar Sign, circa 1960s - 1970s, for Teacher’s Highland Cream, Scottish Whiskey. Distributed by Schieffelin & Co. NY importers as a promotional item for the bars and restaurants that sold Teacher’s. Though undated, we know it’s pre-1980 - that’s when Schieffelin was acquired by Moët.
Features:
+ Antique Style Lettering in gold with black trim (or reverse)
+ Silver Vines Design in the center along with silver lettering, logo and other design flourishes
+ Rich Brown Frame - either wood, faux wood, or combo
SIZE: Measures just under 20” W by 17” H. Measurements inside the frame window are 17 7/16” W by 14 1/2” H.
CONDITION: Excellent vintage condition. The only issues of wear to note are 1) tiny areas of “desilvering” or tarnish (typical sign of age for a vintage mirror - may even have been part of the design to appear antique) and 2) a very occasional dot of white on frame edge from paint splatter.
Background: Made in Glasgow, Scotland, Teacher’s Whisky was first sold 1830; Highland Cream in 1884. Fun Fact: Whisky (no e) refers to Scottish, Canadian, or Japanese grain spirits. Whiskey (with an e) refers to grain spirits distilled in Ireland and the United States.
