~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Understated glamour, inspired by the Golden-Age of Hollywood * Rich blue color (almost aqua/turquoise) * Lovely double-layer flowy sleeves * The waist is slightly empire-style * Flattering feminine cut * The medium weight fabric (polyester?) is slightly stretchy * There is a long zipper in back * The diamond-shaped silvery waist embellishment is soft, not hard or metallic Measurements (taken across front, with dress laid flat) : * Armpit to armpit = 19” * Across Empire-Waist seam = 16” * Length of sleeve = 24” * Overall Length of dress (from neck/shoulder to hem in front) = 56.5” The stitching of the gown is good, but not totally professional. The dress does not appear as a commercial-manufactured item. On the inside of the waist area are some awkward white stitches (being on the inside, they are hidden and don’t show) and a couple of stiches showing where the diamond detail attaches. I’m fairly sure this dress is homemade by a seamstress and is one-of-a-kind. Yet, inside the dress, there is a small remnant shred of a label that has long since disappeared. I am unsure which decade this dress was made; I am guessing the late 60's or the 70's. Whoever made this gown did a lovely job. Full length makes a beautiful lounger ( I considered replacing the diamond detail with a white silk rose) Or, this could be hemmed for a cocktail length party dress.
