Vintage Women's Gwenn Pennington Pillbox Hat The hat is black in color. The material is soft and feels felt-like or velvet-like. The hat is decorated by octagonal black beads as well as a top black-colored thick tassel. The hat has three labels. One is a small union label confirming it was made by member(s) of the textile union. The second states that the hat is a Gwenn Pennington Exclusive (Paris/New York). The third is from Gladdings. Gladdings Department Store opened as a Dry Goods Store in Providence, Rhode Island in 1766. It went bankrupt and closed in the early 1970's. This would date the hat as nearly fifty years old at minimum. The hat is gently used with no fraying or signs of wear. It has been stored in a large hat box in the dark of the top of a closet.
