prairie_girl just as an FYI..... (only just joined poshmark but I have bought one item so far and I'm just a buyer not a seller here) but as someone who has sold several thousand items on ebay as well as my own personal website. So shipping is something I know a LOT about. The 5.95$ is for priority shipping USPS which is pretty much the cost of the postage needed for a specific weight (which is the lowest amount) unless you use flat weight which I do not believe this is the pricing for.

prairie_girl Even the flat rate options very slightly in its price. But with priority mail it's listed as 3-day delivery. however, that can very just because sometimes it may take a bit longer. But your package by default carries $50 insurance coverage. I don't know if Poshmark includes additional insurance on items that cost more or not, but that is included with ALL priority mail packages. Additional insurance can be purchased.

prairie_girl The seller is NOT profiting at all on the cost of shipping and that needs to be paid to the shipper. Even when you see free shipping. The cost of the shipping is included in the price. The shipper really doesn't ship anything for free and that needs to be paid before the item can be claimed by the postal service used and shipped. Common sense there.

prairie_girl PS first class postage is cheaper but not by a whole lot if your package is close to the max weight limit which is 13 ounces. (remember there are 16 ounces in a pound) But even at lower weights it's still a couple of bucks. Doesn't include insurance and can be slower time wise shipped. The package must meet a certain thickness requirement in at least part of it and tracking is paid for not included like priority mail.

prairie_girl However, with some online postage printing options it will offer tracking for free. But if you mail it from the post office tracking is paid for first class packages. I hope that explains a bit more to others questioning about the cost of shipping.

sparker1966 Not sure if you knew or not but the $5.95 shipping Posh offers covers up to 5 pounds. Per the PO $5.95 for up to 5 lbs priority is a good rate & it's for anywhere in US. I hate paying shipping too but I believe it's still a good deal. I've had it happen a couple times that I did not receive my order even though it said in tracking it was delivered and Posh as refunded me those $ and paid the seller. I think Posh has some of the best customer service out there when it comes to missing packages.

a_fire_inside @madelrv also wanted to send you a listing someone made about shipping supplies. The P.O. only stocks long rectangular boxes and their flat rate boxes will get your package sent back to you but you can order online and have supplies delivered at no charge.

pretty_ascanbee Does anyone know what I can do about ups or who I need to call. Yesterday I was waiting for a big order and ups said that it had been delivered to my front porch and I had been waiting for the packages and I never got them. I went out to my neighbors until I found them. This is crazy.

tweety538182009 @sparker1966 I've NEVER been able to mail a package any cheaper than the shipping that Posh charges for shipping. I mail frequently with this site, to my children & grandchild in various locations in the country & overseas. They are by far the most reasonable, especially considering I've always been reimbursed no matter what the circumstances as a butter & seller, for lost or damaged packages. Great customer service. You get what you pay for. :-)

freshpample Sadly, the lowest Priotity Mail rate is now $7.10. Seems like a lot since only a few years ago it was about $4. Blame the Republican House agenda to deregulate and attack the USPS a few years ago when Obama was in office. All employees must now be fully funded for retirement in advanse. No other company or government organization is required to do so. BTW, THE USPS IS INDEPENDENT, or was. Since foundation it was a non profit quasi -govt org.

freshpample There should be First Class with Tracking for parcels shipped safely under 1 pound for jewelry items. It would be around $4, less with their bulk discount. After all, First Class Mail is the same as Priority, but under 13oz. Or is it still 15?

zionsmom It's hit or miss with that seller @prairie_girl I bought from her once n got the items with no problem. Bought a second time n she gave me a bunch of excuses about her daughter being sick or something. I waited over 2 weeks then then push cancelled it. He account was closed n she sane back with a similar name. Bought a large vs lot from her and never got it. Then about a week ago I bough 3 lip kits.
