figseeker @kathyno7 i actually moved to barcelona after living in dublin, ireland for years! its my first month here and it was the best change i could have made. its so crazy to now live somewhere that i would be dreaming of going on a holiday to!

kathyno7 @figseeker Wow you are so lucky! Sounds like you love it there! My husband and I were actually trying to apply for the new Nomad visa they’re offering in Spain, but the requirements kept changing so we’ve kind of given up. Funny we were just looking at apartments in Barcelona a few weeks ago and they’re surprisingly affordable. It looks beautiful there! I hope they make it easier for people to apply because I would love to live there some day!

figseeker @kathyno7 affordable is a stretch! the wage in spain is significantly lower compared with say northern european countries, so it balances out. i have to say it might be frustrating, but i'm seeing all these people migrating in from overseas while working from home and earning a much higher wage and outcompeting people for who bcn is their home.. its tricky!

kathyno7 @figseeker I have family in Madrid and they did mention that to us :( I guess I was comparing the costs to where I live in Northern San Diego! And honestly we’re also seeing that here! People are moving to San Diego from San Francisco, Los Angeles and the East Coast because it’s less expensive here. They are out-competing people with lower wages too. But I understand the wages are much lower in Spain than here though, I feel bad that is happening to the locals over there :(
