@deefallen22 aww thank you! I also do lashes and that is my favorite part, I love creeping on them for that first look in the mirror when they're like 😍 "oh! Wow!" If I'm ever anywhere near you I'd love my lashes done. Most of the new lash techs I've encountered suck lol but I have a feeling you've been in the game for a while 😏 stay gorgeous!

@ooohsamantha2 Nice, I just checked out your website. I work at the L'ermitage Hotel in beverly hills. Always looking for new spas, I used to work as a spa manager for 3 years in NYC. Going back for a bit but I'll be back and maybe I can check your place out ;)

@ooohsamantha2 if you are interested, I have a Tiffany bracelet that cost quite a bit more than the ring you are getting. Maybe you would want to trade for something. I am really looking for an LV makeup case. I will send you a pic of the bracelet.

You have such amazing, glowing skin! No wonder you work as an esthetician. I read that in your description after the fact, and was like "duh." Do you mind giving me some quick skin care tips, or some lines you recommend? I don't want to waste to much of your time, but would really appreciate where to start from your experience. I was thinking of trying to go either the organic route or dermatologist recommended route (think Skinceuticals)? I'd love your thoughts if you can help ☺️.
Feb 05Reply

ooohsamantha2
@barbiefashion aww you are so sweet and I am absolutely happy to help. When it comes to derm grade skin care lines I prefer cosmedix over skinceuticals. Check them out they have awesome stuff. Do you have a specific concern or issue you are trying to accomplish.

Thank you so much for taking the time to get back to me! It honestly brightened my day when you offered to help, and I (really) do appreciate it. I've been reading/watching skincare reviews online, but I'm starting to notice that a lot of bloggers are struggling, and jump from one product to another every month. I'm wondering if the blind are leading the blind 🙈. I feel like you have the secrets haha.

barbiefashion
Let me know your thoughts, please. At the moment, I have dry, sensitive skin with minor acne. I live a healthy lifestyle (clean diet + moderate exercise). I moisturize (via moisturizer, serum, face masks), use sunscreen religiously, and am prescribed Retin-a. The thing that's really throwing me off is that I once had good skin (no consistent acne - only spots, healthy color to my skin). Then I moved from the East Coast to Cali: from dry to even drier, lifeless skin, minor acne.

barbiefashion
I'm thinking it can only be down to skincare, right? I'm still health conscious, and it's been nearly 2 years to adjust. I'll definitely check out CosMedix if that's the line you personally use, and it complements the points I made above. P.S. My apologies for the lengthy posts; I feel greedy 😁☺️.

ooohsamantha2
@barbiefashion if you are ever in la come by for a facial! But ok let's figure it out, the key with happy skin is balance. The right combination of exfoliating, hydrating and protecting. Ok a couple questions; When you breakout are they all over or in a particular area? Do you get oily throughout the day at all? Are the breakouts blackheads, white heads, or little like bumps under the skin that u can more feel than see? Are you using the retin a everyday? And for how long have u been using it?
Feb 06Reply

ooohsamantha2
@barbiefashion I definitely love to watch all the little videos and things that bloggers make but I do think there is a bit of a lack of knowledge sometimes and everyone has different skin types and usually we want to treat the issue that we see. But 9 times out of 10 the issue we see is just the result of another issue that's causing that reaction. By finding and treating the root of the issue things tend to stay clearer much longer
Feb 06Reply

barbiefashion
Ah! I'll definitely let you know if I ever make it out to LA (I've never been!). And I absolutely agree with your philosophy on hydration, exfoliation, and protection (I do a lot of DIY masks - honey for it's moisturizing properties; Greek yogurt for its lactic acid; also sunscreen!). And the acne is concentrated on the sides of my nose area, edging into my cheeks. A little on my chin. That started exactly when I moved out here. It was never a problem area for me before.
Feb 06Reply

barbiefashion
Prior, it was the outer perimeters of my cheekbones and forehead. Got on Retin-A (3x/week) and it completely wiped out. Something like 4 years of bliss lol. Now, for the last year, I've upped the ante on Retin-a to every other day (which could explain the dryness of my skin, but not entirely; my hair is drier too for some reason).
Feb 06Reply

barbiefashion
And the acne is a mix of hardened sebum - used to come out on its own while cleansing and massaging, but now they clog the pores and turn into whiteheads (unlike before). My skin is dry for most of the day until I exercise or wake up from a nap lol.
Feb 06Reply

ooohsamantha2
@barbiefashion what it sounds like to me is that your skin is trying to help itself get balanced. It's trying to hold onto any moisture that it can get by holding your natural oil beneath the surface creating those stubborn little bumps. It's tempting to up the retinol but keep in mind the more u exfoliate the more hydration your skin will need. Get a hyaluronic acid serum that's very concentrated and use it twice a day
Feb 06Reply

barbiefashion
Honestly, thank you so much for being such a sweetheart! Sometimes I see random people with incredible skin in real life and I want to ask for recommendations, but I'm too shy lol. I looked into CosMedix last night, and while the reviews are a little more quiet than the standard cult beauty products, I'm hearing some genuinely good things (I actually prefer that!).
Feb 07Reply

barbiefashion
And I'll take it to heart that this will unlikely be the magic bullet, but I'm genuinely interested in making a few purchases and seeing how that goes. Thank you for the heads up! And I'll agree with your assessment on my Retin-A usage. I think you're supposed to try to build up to using it often, but nothing is for everyone. I know this tight, dry feeling on my skin is unhealthy. The dryness is probably responsible for the loss of skin suppleness (which can translate to lifelessness).
Feb 07Reply

barbiefashion
I haven't really played around too much with my serums, moisturizers because those are the only two products that can make me legitimately break out if I choose unwisely (which is why I relied on the temporary relief that I received from moisturizing masks instead). I'll try to push through the trial and error process, and not rely too heavily on my old standby, Retin-a ☺️.
Feb 07Reply

ooohsamantha2
@barbiefashion I have such a love hate relationship with retinols when used properly it can be amazing but I feel like most people who get it are just told to use it as much as they can tolerate and don't really know when to stop and it can end up just thinning out the skin when being used long-term.
Feb 07Reply

ooohsamantha2
@barbiefashion I think if u keep doing what ur doing and just incorporate a hyaluronic serum I think it will really help
Feb 07Reply

barbiefashion
Yes, sounds silly now that I've written it out for you: I moved across the country, my skin freaked out and became super dry (causing acne), I increased usage of Retin-a (a very drying agent) to combat acne and end up prolonging the issues. I'll reduce the amount and frequency on that front, and tinker with my moisturizers and serums.
Feb 08Reply

barbiefashion
It hadn't occurred to me because I figured quicker cellular turnover meant my skin wouldn't even have the opportunity to get clogged - it would all get pushed out. And while not ideal, the thought actually crossed my mind that I'd take dry skin, flushed skin over acne. It's likely linked in my case. I'll be on the lookout for the serum you suggested. Thank you again for being so kind ☺️.

Hi! I’m very sorry I haven’t shipped your sweater yet, unfortunately when I was boxing it up I noticed a small blue mark near the collar. I tried to remove it but I think it may be a piece of thread in it. 🤷🏻♀️ again I’m really sorry and I’m sorry I didn’t notice it before.
