This fabulous late 1950s/early 1960s boucle wool coat is a vibrant red and features a mink collar. A classic “Camelot” profile with a double row of buttons and a collar that can be worn rounded up or lay flat. The mink collar is sewn on, probably an accessory finish choice. It can lay flat like a regular open collar or if snapped and hooked into placed forms a lovely round shape to frame the wearer’s face. All you need is a hat. The coat has a pocket on each side.
Jaison’s was a high end clothing/department store in business from 1926-1985 at this location in Pennsylvania.
In overall excellent condition. No tears or stains in the lining. The buttons are intact & quite lovely. All buttons, snaps & hooks could use a once over with a needle & thread to tighten up or ensure they are firmly attached—they do show a little looseness from being opened and closed over the years. One button has a small snag spot showing the button shape inside and there are a few other spots where an up close inspection shows the boucle may have been snagged and pulled threads reset. There is 1/2” seam opening inside the collar area—fixable.
The coat is meant to be worn buttoned up so while there is stretch and give in the wool, please see the measurements for the intended fit. It has about 2” of stretch in the bust circumference (for comfort) but the coat shape itself would be distorted if fully stretched.
Measurements:
~40” around underarm seams at the top button when buttoned
~10” top

@lyle_hafften sorry no photos to take. There is a layer between the lining and the outer boucle. I’ll add one!
