A good friend gave me my first donkey back in 1989 to be a buddy for a Shetland pony I owned from yearling to her end at age 27. They became inseparable friends, and he got me hooked on donkeys within the first few days. My obsession continues to this day, and I have owned, bred, and raised donkeys ever since. They are gentle, loving, adorable, intelligent, entertaining, good-natured, and their hardiness enables them to live 40 years or more. They return every ounce of love with a pound.
