tiffcake @ctryon so frustrating. Really sad fakes. In other news, I scored the new taiga holographic follies already. They weren’t at the top of my list from current collection but I found them for $450 so I didn’t wait. Gotta love eBay for skipping out of tax on these luxury items! I don’t think I’ve ever gotten a pair from a current collection though for such a discount. Lucky gal I guess.

tiffcake @ctryon I don’t know... someone just listed nice condition maleva in 37 for $500 that I think I will get if I can purchase for maybe $435 to replace my 38’s and then I hope to get $325-350 for mine. They’re faded and I had to fix the previous owner’s attempt getting them resoled—they were laterally unstable and someone was going to twist an ankle in them if I sold them like that ☹️

briannefield Okay I have a fit question: if I am an almost perfect 39 in apostrophe then would a 39.5 in the slingback version be too big or you think I could pull it off?

tiffcake @briannefield when you say almost perfect, is it fitting tight or loose? In general I can make a shoe work that is much too small more successfully than too large. With CL, my heels slip more than any other designer so I know purchase them VERY snug. If your apostrophy is fitting right then half size up in slingback version is doable. If it was fitting big, then it is really risky.

tiffcake @briannefield I’ve given up on slingbacks all together bc they always slide for me. My heel anatomy isn’t cooperative at all 🤣Slingbacks are extra challenging if they don’t fit well. You’re limited to using toebox inserts or having a cobbler shorten the straps.

briannefield @tiffcake thank you that’s helpful! The patent 39s I have are perfect. The kid 39s are not too big but have a little room to wiggle my toes. Because the pair I’m looking at are also kid I’m worried they would be big. The sling does have some leniency, and I could always put a ball-of-foot cushion in, but I would rather not...

tiffcake @briannefield also, is your apostrophy straight from retail? If so then you have a better idea how it fits and how it breaks in. Almost all of mine are resale which makes things more challenging bc if someone tried stretching them before me, I may not realize the pair doesn’t fit like they normally do (or the pair I’m getting might be stretched and fit larger than I’m expecting) I’ll tag you on a listing of the fit products I ise

briannefield @tiffcake thank you. Mine are both resale. I am crushing on the slingback apostrophe so hard these days. I would love a black pair, especially in patent! But nude are gorgeous too. My heels are also narrow but at least they stay in the Louboutins!

tiffcake @briannefield sorry for all the typos—I’m typing quickly and I’m an idiot with autocorrect. I’m scared they might be loose on you BUT just pay a price you’re comfortable paying if you can’t make them work and have to resell. I don’t have apostrophy but I have Zappa and I could definitely take it half size down. I really love the cutaway styles. I totally understand wanted to get every version of it!

I once saw a custom volcano pair where someone added a dainty little leather bow—really thin and delicate and it had CRYSTAL SKULL beads on the ends!!!! Swarovski skulls that shined so many amazing colors!! I didn’t buy them and I have always regretted it. I keep trying to find archived images of them to get them custom made

cadillacclaire @tiffcake It’s tough, but I’m downsizing my collection and I have two pairs of Zermadames, gray and burgundy. The gray pair is really tight around the instep on my left foot and just won’t seem to loosen up. Sad, but I’m sure someone else will love them too!

tiffcake @cadillacclaire my Lina is like that—it’s like my arch is too high or something but if anything, my arches have fallen a bit as I’ve aged 🤷‍♀️ I wear them with knee highs and it helps a lot—not like they’re compression or anything but they just ensure that they don’t “stick” if that makes any sense (makes them less uncomfortable)

cadillacclaire @tiffcake yeah, nylons help and I totally get about the sticking! I have a bony bit on the top of my left foot that’s way more prominent than on the right. The extra half size on my burgundy paid seems to make all the difference!

They’re my most expensive pair at the moment (unless I ever get metal Nodo) I just got a charcoal grey/red Anemone in 100mm from her too!! They should arrive this week I think 😍

cadillacclaire @tiffcake I know you’ve had spikes replaced before, would you mind telling me about how much they cost? I got a pair of Bamboot (so much for downsizing lol!) and they showed up with three missing. Not a dealbreaker but def want to press for a bit of a refund as it wasn’t disclosed.

tiffcake @cadillacclaire I still haven’t had them replaced yet (I don’t want to pay the expensive shipping there and back when Pasquale’s is in my boyfriend’s sales territory and we can just take them but I haven’t been proactive about making sure they’re ready when he leaves and haven’t had a chance to join him on a trip. BUT I can tell you it costs about $20 for a pair of spikes just to get them in your hands to be replaced (if you don’t have spares)

tiffcake @cadillacclaire there’s an online quote form for leather spa in NYC maybe you can use to get an estimate. Or maybe you can call someone in your area or visit in person to get a quote. My local guy won’t do them bc he doesn’t have the tool to fasten them onto post without flattening the point so he would just glue it on which won’t hold and can tear the leather later.

tiffcake @cadillacclaire also, if the post is gone it’s a REALLY expensive repair bc they have to take the shoe apart to put in a new post so they can attach the spike stud to it. I think it’s safe to say it would cost you at least $50 to repair tbem

cadillacclaire @tiffcake Unfortunately, on two of them the posts are gone. I really don't think they can be replaced as the heels are embroidered silk which just the thought of taking that apart makes me queasy. One still has the post so that could be done I guess. I think the best thing to do is just love them as they are.

I’m not sure exactly how old a pair has to be to be considered vintage but Bruges is definitely an older style that hasn’t been available for a hot minute. I’m not sure why the seller said they’re from last year’s collection—that’s definitely not correct and they’re old enough to have the old veto cuoio stamp. I’ll check my book to see if I can figure out the year range for uou

tiffcake @myerhampton17 I hope so too—I’m nervous on the sizing bc I have that Plato in grey/black/yellow 37 fitting perfectly but also in grey/white/pink 37&37.5... in that one the 37 is snug and I’m keeping the 37.5. Fingers crossed your color version fits like that pair and not the other one 🤣

tiffcake @cadillacclaire mine fit like Bianca. Bianca isn’t an easy fitting pair for me so I don’t want to give you bad advice. My heels always slip in them even if the toes are cramped so I guess best solution (for me) is 37 with a heel grip or a well broken-in 36.5 (my bibi is ostrich and my Biancas are python... foraine might be Bianca and those fit me odd also

Lol we buy, renovate & sell houses so tax season is a terrible time around here. 😩 The Very Galaxy is size 38, on ebáÿ for $350 and they are actually beauties. Look like a pink/red mirror heel. And peep-toe. ✨👠 looks like a super comfortable heel 🤷🏼‍♀️

tiffcake @nacole24 hey there! Did you buy that leopard pair of very prive? I can’t tell 100% by the seller’s photos but there are many red flags. If you bought them, you can photo in specific positions when you receive them & then we can tell better whether my suspicion is true. You’ll be able to open a case with posh. And get your money back. If they’re replicas, maybe seller doesn’t even know

Are there any telltale signs I should look for immediately. They’re a 39, so there’s no 1/2 sign to look for. The stamp looked a little faded, but nothing stood out to me.

tiffcake @nacole24 it’s the construction and the silhouette that is offputting to me. CL is usually super low cut (lots of toe cleavage) but the peeps are usually very small giving just a glimpse of the toes from the bottom up. It seems that the toebox is higher up than it ought to be & way more peep. The finishing of the upper looks a little sloppy on the interior. The outsole and stamp don’t look right. It will be good to get the pics at the right angles to check

tiffcake @nacole24 I have lots of Very Prive pairs so we have lots of references. The pony hair leopard pairs with which I’m familiar have a more natural pattern whereas those have a more painted or cartoon leopard appearance. I don’t have that specific pair so we might need to ask a super seller. But regardless of that particular leopard, the construction and silhouette should STILL be correct for Very Prive and that we can figure out once you have them in your hands 😘 don’t worry.

tiffcake @spicyredhead I reported all the ones on which you tagged me— but most were already gone. There’s a fake anemone being offered by ewiegel1 if you could please report discreetly. I have anemone & it’s cut like an old Pigalle (extremely low on the sides, low in front, & super narrow) & has an extremely voluminous, 3D bow (not a flat, stacked ribbon w/ giant loop)

tiffcake (She’s mixing pics on some possibly authentic pairs with her fake pair—the authentic 120 is very distinctive but 100’s don’t have the same elegant curves & deep cuts so they are a little more subtle—bc she’s mixing pics I’m not even entirely sure if she’s selling 100/120 but the flat limp heavy bow & klunky silhouette is still a dead giveaway—its a rare authentic style & market is saturated w/ fake versions so I think some ppl might be unaware making it a risky one)

tiffcake @hkuper that white pair you tagged me—it’s a fake so kate/Pigalle hybrid but she has a stolen pic of an authentic batignole thrown in (the stolen pic is the one showing the outsole with the vibram half sole with the different background—the stiletto gives it away it’s not even the same shoe style). You have good eyes!
